LACOMBE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

LACOMBE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Lacombe & District Historical Society own and operate the Michener House Museum and the Lacombe Blacksmith Shop Museum.  Facilities are open year-round to provide school tours, host special events for the community and have their collection of over 40,000 items in the archives accessible for researchers.  2021 marks their 50th anniversary!

While the organization jumped into the new decade with high hopes, the pandemic closed museums and galleries causing the organization to pivot their practices with regard to donations, fees and funding.

As a participant and winner of the #SocialMediaChallenge, "the challenged pushed us to reach thousands of new audience members and we were able to able to share our work and efforts internationally because of it".
