Youth Entrepreneurship Program Expands to 4 East Parkland Communities

Community Futures East Parkland (CFEP) is pleased to announce the return of Lemonade Day, a free, hands-on entrepreneurship program that teaches kids how to start and run their very own small business—a lemonade stand.

Set for Saturday, June 14, 2025, Lemonade Day invites youth, K to 12 to take part in an exciting journey that builds real-world skills in budgeting, goal-setting, customer service, and entrepreneurial thinking. Participants learn how to plan their business, choose a location, set pricing, and calculate costs, all while having fun and building confidence.

This year, the program is expanding to include four (4) East Parkland communities:

  • Bashaw (in partnership with the Bashaw & District Chamber of Commerce)
  • Castor (organized by the Battle River Innovation Centre)

  • Wetaskiwin (coordinated by the City of Wetaskiwin)

  • Blackfalds (coordinated by the Town of Blackfalds)

Each community will host its own Lemonade Day celebration, complete with visits from local judges, which may include mayors, councillors, and chamber representatives, who will hand out prizes for Best Tasting Lemonade, Best Stand Design, and Best Entrepreneur.

Community Futures East Parkland is proud to partner with these communities to help kids explore entrepreneurship in a way that’s fun, family-friendly, and community-driven.

In 2024, CFEP supported successful Lemonade Day events in Bashaw, Castor, and Wetaskiwin. Dozens of youth launched their own stands, many of whom chose to donate a portion of their profits to local charities and causes. Families and local businesses reported increased engagement, pride, and community spirit.

Youth can now register for Lemonade Day 2025. The program includes access to a free workbook or digital guide to help participants build their business plan. While there are no formal workshops required, kids are encouraged to plan alongside family members, teachers, or community mentors.

***Note that when registering your will want to choose "CAD - northern Alberta" as the community/city you are participating in, whether you're in Blackfalds, Bashaw, Castor, or Wetaskiwin.***
